Pains, Aches and Fibroids

Experiencing pain due to fibroids and need some help figuring why this may be? Read on to find out why you may be experiencing such pain and how you can conquer the issue.

I have been struggling for years with pelvic pain.  I really want to be able to have one more child. I have severe scar tissue and a fibroid. I just want to figure out what is causing me so much pain.

A significant number of women that have fibroids often experience common symptoms that can hinder their lifestyle and daily activities.  These symptoms include: frequent urination, pain during intercourse, constipation, heavy bleeding, abdominal bloating, abdominal pain and/or back ache. The pain that many women experience can be caused by several different factors.  Some women with fibroids experience painful periods, dull aches in their thighs, back pain or constant pressure in the abdominal area that feels like bloating or fullness.

Pain during a menstrual period may be due to large clots of blood pushing through the cervix. Cramps can also be caused by the uterus trying to force out, or contract, a type of fibroid called a submucosal fibroid which can grow on a stalk in the cavity of the uterus. Additionally, large fibroids can make the uterus big, leading to lower back pain or pelvic discomfort. Some women with fibroids experience a dull ache in their thighs or develop varicose veins in their legs. This can happen when fibroids become so large that they begin to press on nerves and blood vessels that extend to the legs, causing immense pain and discomfort in the legs.

Many women like to choose Uterine Fibroid Embolization because it is not only a less invasive approach to more traditional methods of fibroid treatment, but because it also leaves a woman the option to have children in the future.  A surgical procedure for fibroid treatment, like a Hysterectomy, takes away a woman’s ability to conceive, therefore closing out fertility options. Therefore, if you are looking to leave the option of fertility open, it is suggested that you look into a treatment like UFE so that you will have that option available.
