Dr. McLucas Presented with Third Place Prize for Uterine Artery Embolization Research
Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies (GEST) is an internationally recognized leading resource on embolotherapy and cancer. With an increase in embolization and interventional treatment options, experts present at GEST their latest research and advanced techniques that are of greatest impact.
Dr. Bruce McLucas was presented with the third place prize for his current research on the effects of Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) on woman’s fertility. We measured the Anti Mullerian Hormone (AMH), which is a better marker for fertility than the Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), before UAE and 6 months post UAE in women under 40. Our preliminary results showed that there is no significant change in AMH levels pre and post UAE. Thus, this suggests that UAE does not affect fertility for women of reproductive age (under 40). More data is still being collected.
